Are Broncos for real?

I know it is only the second game, but if any other team was playing this well, I would have to think they were going to have a good season and should be taken seriously.  The biggest difference, besides Jay Cutler looking like he is in control, is Shanahan’s play calling.  He is not predictable and is willing to go for the win, something he has not shown in years, if ever.  The NFL Broncos seem to have the confidence of a team that thinks they can win and they are playing like it too.  I believe they have played two very good football teams so far.  I don’t think the NFL Oakland Raiders are as bad as they were last year and are a much better team than people think.  The NFL San Diego Chargers are going to be a team that will win more than they lose and it is a good thing the Broncos play them the last game of the season.  I am excited by what I have seen from the Broncos, so far, and look forwartd to their next game agains New Orleans.

Field Goals

Posted by: admin  //  Category: preseason

To my dismay, the NFL Broncos lost to the Houston Texans on Saturday. I try to remind myself that it is only pre-season, but I hate losing, period, and I hate it when my sports teams lose. I know, this is nothing new, many people are like that!
One observation I saw in the game, is one I notice in many games. This is the Field Goal. I detest them.
If I coached the NFL Broncos, I would only try for a Field Goal at the end of the first half or the end of the game. The only exceptions would be if we were so far from making a first down that it would be foolish to try for one.
The players would know they had to get a first down, or a Touchdown. They couldn’t try just hard enough to get three points. If we were too close to punt, we would go for it on 4th down.
It seems to deflate the defense, when they stop the other team on 3rd down and then realize they have to do it again, because the other team was going for it on 4th down. I believe we would become a very hard team to beat. Of course, this is pure speculation, since I am not the coach. (Yet).

The NFL Broncos…..

Posted by: admin  //  Category: nfl broncos

Welcome to my NFL Broncos blog…..

Well, the preseason is already upon us with a full slate of games this weekend.
It will be very interesting to see how Brett Favre plays in New York when they meet the NFL Broncos, on November 30th.  It is a new environment and he is not familiar with it.  This usually makes for a very poor season and standing, not a great way for a great player like Favre to spend his last years.

I know the preseason stats are really meaningless, for the most part, since the teams that do the best, usually don’t duplicate that during the regular season, however, it is still interesting to see how certain teams and certain players play.  I always hope they continue to do well after the preseason.   I would really like to see the preseason go away.  I believe the injuries, that so often occur, happen due to the fact that the games don’t count.  It really doesn’t matter what they say, if the players know it is an exhibition game, some of them won’t put out their best effort and usually end up getting injured.  I believe, if there was no preseason, we would get more for our money with less injuries, better play, etc.  In fact, since money seems to drive this boat, I am very surprised, it hasn’t already occurred to the owners.

I will make my boastful predictions for the NFL Broncos, as usual, and be overly optimistic and declare them the Western Conference Champions, even before I know if they are capable of this feat.  I will always expect the best from them, until the very end.
